Vulcan Minerals Inc. (“the Company” TSX-V: VUL) is pleased to announce that the Vulcan-Investcan Robinson’s #1 well in western Newfoundland commenced drilling on June 30, 2009.  The well is currently being prepared to run and cement conductor casing at 88 metres depth.  The well is planned to a total depth of 3600 metres and will be the first deep well in the under-explored Bay St. George Basin.  The drilling program is being conducted pursuant to a joint venture with Investcan Energy Corporation.

Vulcan is a diversified junior exploration company focussed on petroleum exploration in the under-explored Western Newfoundland area and also holds mineral interests in areas strategic to its operations in Newfoundland and Labrador.
